Berlin · Passage Kino & online

Back to the cinema

1–4 September 2022

In nine years INVASION has changed spaces and formats: born in Berlin, on tour across Germany, a guest in Buenos Aires; lasting a month, a week, a weekend, one night. The festival survived the pandemic in its online version — and is still here, eager to watch good cinema in the original language.

This year we returned to the cinema. With the Instituto Cervantes as partner we shared two films at the Passage Kino, with lead actress Érica Rivas present to introduce them. And we stayed online too: inspired by genre cinema, we selected three Argentine science-fiction films, available free of charge.

The films

  • El PrófugoNatalia Meta, 2020, 95 Min.

Inés dubs horror films and sings in a choir. After a shock on holiday, something enters her sleep that will not switch off again.

  • La Luz IncidenteAriel Rotter, 2015, 95 Min.

Buenos Aires, early 1960s: a young widow with twin daughters is expected to put her life back in order after her husband's fatal accident. A film about grief that refuses to be managed.

  • Fase 7Nicolás Goldbart, 2010, 95 Min.

A couple moves into a new flat just as a pandemic puts the building under quarantine. In the stairwell, the fight for survival begins — as horror comedy.

  • La AntenaEsteban Sapir, 2007, 99 Min.

A city has lost its voice; a corporation controls what may be said. Sapir's near-silent black-and-white film tells it in images that seem to come from cinema's earliest days.
